Founded in 1981 and wholly owned by BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina (BCBSSC) since 1984, Planned Administrators, Inc. (PAI) is a nationally licensed third-party administrator (TPA) supported by South Carolina's leading insurer. In 1999, Companion TPA (CTPA), a fellow BCBSSC subsidiary, began offering claims management services to self-insured entities, associations, and insurance companies. In 2015, PAI acquired CTPA, expanding its services to include workers' compensation and liability alongside its group health TPA offerings. Recognizing an opportunity to further integrate medical and property and casualty program administration, PAI continued its strategic growth. 

Today, under the leadership of Tosca Walls, Director of Property & Casualty Operations, PAI remains focused on operational efficiency and strategic claims management.
